My Drunk Hamster Has A Huge Hangover

13 Apr

Remember your pet hamster, Fluffy? You overfed him and he got so fat that he couldn’t fit in the tubes in his cage anymore. Then, you accidently dropped him down the stairs and he died… Now, imagine your cute little hamster friend drunk…

I had to do an extra credit assignment, so is searched around the web for a good science article. In the process, I found out that hamsters can actually drink alcohol… and they do get drunk. I would not recommend filling up your hamster’s water bottle with vodka, but if they were to get small amounts of alcohol it wouldn’t harm them because they metabolize it very quickly. I don’t know how much it takes to kill them, so don’t try this at home kiddies.

*SIR, PULL THE WHEEL OVER*

**Studies done in the United Kingdom have said the number of “drunk wheelings” has tripled since 1990**

Science Daily has an article about how hamsters can be affected by alcohol. The hamsters that drank the most alcohol woke up when exposed to bright light, while regular hamsters would begin to settle down and sleep. (Hamsters are nocturnal). These hamsters also didn’t get up as much as the “sober” hamsters. It kinda sounds like they had a little hamster hangover, right?

Drunk hamsters also have a tendency to tell bad jokes, have slurred speech patterns, fall over, and repeatedly tell you they’re okay to drive their hamster ball back to their cage.

What if he becomes an alcoholic, drunk, laying in the corner, asking “Hey buddy, you got more?”

If that happened I would sign your hamster up for A.A.
